What is speech-language therapy?
A speech-language pathologist works to evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment for speech, language, social communication, and cognitive-communication in children and adults.
How can speech-language therapy help?
Speech: difficulty producing speech sounds; improving fluency (stuttering)
Language: understanding language (receptive language); difficulty communicating needs, feelings, and thoughts (expressive language); difficulty with spoken or written language
Social Communication: difficulty with verbal and nonverbal communication, such as engaging in age-appropriate conversations and/or playing appropriately
Cognitive-communication: difficulty organizing thoughts, paying attention, remembering, planning, and or problem/solving
